I will admit this, I didn't have Tennessee making much noise in the tournament this year on the men's side but never in a million years would I have expected the Lady Vols to lose in the first weekend of the tournament.
In the history of the women's NCAA Tournament, the Volunteers had never been eliminated in the first two rounds, something that couldn't be said at places like Michigan State and UCONN on the men's side.
That is until last night, when the Ball State Cardinals, champions of the Mid-American Conference and making their debut in the women's tournament, defeated the fifth-seeded Lady Vols 71-55 in Bowling Green, Kentucky making the 2008-09 basketball season the worst in Pat Summit's tenure in Knoxville.
Two nights earlier, the men lost a heartbreaker to Oklahoma State in Dayton in the first round, marking this the first time that the Vols haven't advanced past the first round in Bruce Pearl's tenure in Knoxville.
This morning, the Knoxville News-Sentinel asked its readers what was the biggest disappointment this season in Knoxville and if I was a betting man, I would have to say that the majority of the fans who participated in the poll picked the men's basketball season although the Vols did win the SEC East and was ranked for the majority of the season.
The Lady Vols on the other hand lost a lot from their national championship teams and rightfully so, there was no way that the Vols would have made it past the Sweet Sixteen or the second round with the team they had. I believe that the Lady Vols will regroup and look back on the loss and make a run for the SEC title and possibly the national title next season, but I want to be careful with what I think on that subject.
However, this picture was brought to my attention this afternoon:

Too bad her baby daddy sucks balls in the NBA.
